Man charged with distributing a recording intending to stir up racial hatred

Nick Price, Director of Legal Services at the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "We have authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Aaron Johnson, 32, with distributing a recording intending to stir up racial hatred.

"The charge relates to alleged filming that took place outside a hotel in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on 5 August 2024.

"It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

  • Aaron Johnson, [DOB: 14/08/1991], is of North Reddish, Stockport.
  • He has been charged with distributing a recording intending thereby to stir up racial hatred, contrary to section 21 Public Order Act 1986.
  • He will appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court today.
  • Attorney General consent was granted for this prosecution.
