As severe weather sets in and the threat of storm surge and flooding increases into the evening and night, the City of Tampa will remain closed through Friday.

Additionally, Solid Waste services will be suspended Friday, September 27. Customers are encouraged to download the Tampa Trash and Recycling app on the Apple and Google Play stores to receive real-time updates on service schedules.

Hurricane Helene's passage along the Tampa Bay coastline is expected to bring heavy rainfall, tropical storm force winds, and dangerous storm surges, reaching up to eight feet in some areas.

Following the storm, the risk of flash flooding increases, along with downed trees and power lines. For this reason, city officials urge residents to remain indoors and take precaution as they assess damages around their homes.

For a list of flooded streets, residents can visit tampa.gov/floodmaps.

Important storm-related information is also shared to those who subscribe to TAMPAREADY or TAMPALISTA. Text 888-777 to enroll in the free alert service.
