CHARLOTTE - Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) released the following statement on last week's election results in North Carolina and nationwide.
"I would like to thank the people of North Carolina's 12th Congressional District for entrusting me to another term in Congress, as well as the volunteers who worked so hard on our campaign, knocking on doors, making phone calls, and talking to their neighbors.
"Like many of you, I am heartbroken by last week's election results. However, the American people have spoken. Former President Trump will be the next President of the United States and I intend to hold him to his word in supporting funding initiatives for our HBCUs, as well as to supporting policies that benefit the working people of America.
Service is indeed the rent we pay for living on God's earth. Vice President Kamala Harris ran a brilliant campaign in a difficult environment. She has been a dedicated public servant and a shining beacon for our daughters and granddaughters to aspire to.
The campaign is over, and our job now is to get back to the work of serving the American people. I intend to continue doing so with the grace, determination, and goodness they expect from me."
