Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a collision that occurred on Dec. 13, 2024, which resulted in the death of a female adult pedestrian.
On Dec. 13, 2024 at approximately 4:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to East Greenleaf Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Upon the arrival, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Compton Fire Department personnel were already on scene, providing aid to the female adult pedestrian. Despite lifesaving efforts, the pedestrian was determined to be deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2009 Chevy HHR was making a left turn from East Greenleaf Boulevard to travel southbound Long Beach Boulevard and collided with a pedestrian who had fallen in the marked crosswalk in the intersection.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.
The decedent was identified as Elvira Cuellar, a 75-year-old resident of Compton.
