Partner Named 'Lawyer of the Year'

Barley Snyder partner Paul G. Mattainihas been named a "Lawyer of the Year" by The Best Lawyers in America®in its 31st edition. Mattaini was designated as the 2025 "Lawyer of the Year" in "Mergers and Acquisitions Law" in the Harrisburg metro area.

The Best Lawyers' 31st edition continues its annual tradition of honoring outstanding legal professionals across the United States. The "Lawyer of the Year" honors are awarded annually to one lawyer per practice area in each region based on feedback from peers.

Barley Snyder maintains a sophisticated M&A practice through a team of attorneys with considerable expertise and experience in transactional matters, both within and outside of the firm's geographic footprint. As part of Barley Snyder's Practice Excellence® process improvement initiative, the firm has developed a quality control program in the M&A area to achieve consistency and quality in its approach to M&A transactions. In terms of "practice style" in the M&A area, the firm prides itself on taking a reasonable, practical approach with the goal of closing the transaction. Mattaini concentrates his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, banking and business. He handles complex and sophisticated transactions and counsels clients on a variety of business matters. Mattaini has practiced at Barley Snyder for 30 years; prior to Barley Snyder, he was a partner at Devine, Millimet & Branch in Manchester, New Hampshire. The "Lawyer of the Year" honor is among other recognitions Mattaini has received during his career. He has earned an "AV Preeminent" Martindale-Hubbell rating and a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers selection in the M&A area in addition to being named to the Best Lawyers list numerous times in the areas of M&A, Banking and Finance Law, Corporate Law and Securities/Capital Markets Law. Mattaini was previously named a "Lawyer of the Year" for "Banking and Finance Law" in the Best Lawyers' 2020 edition. He has also been recognized with the Champion for Women Award by the Pennsylvania Bankers Association.
