Labor Day City Holiday Hours and Services: Monday, Sept. 2

In observance of Labor Day, all City of Garland offices, utility customer service, tax office, libraries, recreation centers and Carver senior center will be closed Monday, Sept. 2.

The Charles M. Hinton Landfill and City of Garland Transfer Station and Recycling Center also will be closed. Garbage, recycling, and brush and bulky pickup schedules will not be impacted.

Firewheel Golf Park will operate its usual hours during the weekend, with the last tee time at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2.

The Noon Exchange Club of Garland will host the 78th annual Garland Labor Day Parade at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2. The annual parade will feature bands, cheerleaders and drill teams from all seven Garland Independent School District high schools, plus youth organizations, police and fire, local leaders and so much more of what defines Garland as a community. The route will begin at Glenbrook Drive and Avenue F. It will proceed north on Glenbrook to Main Street, then east on Main to Sixth Street, north on Sixth to State Street, east on State to Fifth Street then north to the Granville Arts Center. For the first time in a few years, the route includes traditional blocks of Main Street and highlights the Downtown Square. Those were bypassed last year because of construction.
