BANKRUPTCY JUDGE CONFIRMED TO SOUTHERN DISTRICT BENCH

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York announces that Kyu Young (Mike) Paek was confirmed as a Judge to the Southern District Bench on July 29, 2024.

As noted in the previous press release by the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (https://www.nysb.uscourts.gov/news/press-release-selection-kyu-young-mike-paek-serve-bankruptcy-judge-southern-district-new-york), Judge Mike Y. Paek is appointed to the Southern District of New York - Poughkeepsie Courthouse. In addition to all cases filed in the Poughkeepsie Courthouse, Judge Mike Y. Peak also presides over Mega Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 cases filed in the White Plains and New York City Courthouses, as stated in Local Rule 1073-1(f).

Judge Mike Paek practiced with the law firm of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP. He was a law clerk to Judge James M. Peck (ret.) and Judge Stuart M Bernstein (ret.). He was the co-chair of the Commercial Bankruptcy and Restructuring Committee of the Asian American Bar Association, in addition to being an adjunct professor at Fordham University. Prior to his appointment, Judge Paek was a court executive at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
