The City of Tampa is proud to partner with the Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, Inc., to celebrate the life and legacy of Civil Rights icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through the city's annual MLK Parade and related events.
This year's parade, organized by the MLK Foundation, promises to be the most exciting yet, featuring new entries from across the state and Caribbean, as well as nationally renowned bands such as the Bethune-Cookman Marching Wildcats and Edward Waters University Triple Threat Marching Band.
In addition to parade enhancements, the MLK Foundation will announce an expansion of its scholarship program, which will provide even more Hillsborough County high school students with access to educational opportunities. The expanded program reflects Dr. King's legacy of advancing equity through education.
This year's theme, "Strength to Love," embodies Dr. King's message of compassion and care for those in need, including the impoverished, unhoused, and jobless. Organizations like Metropolitan Ministries, Sulphur Springs YMCA, Abe Brown Ministries, and All Rise Foundation will be honored for their work aligning with this mission.
Parade Highlights:
Grand Marshal: Les Miller, former state representative and Hillsborough County commissioner
Sponsors: Florida Blue and TECO lead the list of supporters, joined by Rebein Brothers Law, USAA, AT&T, Grow Financial, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays, Bank of Tampa, Women's Council of Bay Area Association of Realists, and media partner 101.5 The Vibe.
Media Interviews:
MLK Parade Foundation leadership will be available at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 16, for interviews following the announcement.
