Cal Poly Student RA Charged with Residential Burglary and Assault with Intent to Commit Sex Offense

District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that felony charges have been filed against a Cal Poly student Resident Advisor for the crimes of residential burglary and felony assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense on September 7, 2024.


Alexis Alejandro, 25, (DOB 01/07/1999) has been charged with assault to commit a felony during the commission of a first-degree residential burglary; assault with intent to commit rape, sodomy, or oral copulation; and first-degree residential burglary while a person was present. These are "strike" offenses under California's Three Strikes Law.

These crimes were reported to have occurred on the campus of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo during the early morning hours of September 7, 2024. Alejandro was arrested and bail was set at $200,000.

A preliminary hearing where the prosecutor will provide evidence to a Judge is scheduled for October 9, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 5 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, the Honorable Timothy S. Covello presiding.

Criminal charges are merely allegations of criminal conduct. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

This case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kristin Barnard assigned to the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Prosecution Unit and is being investigated by the Cal Poly Police Department, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, and the District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation.
