The Council connected over £200m worth of upcoming public sector contract opportunities from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Department for Health, the Education Authority, and the Council's own Capital programme.
More than 50 businesses heard from representatives from each of the respective organisations who outlined the pipeline of major contracts and how local contractors can access these opportunities.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Neil Kelly, who attended the event, praised the initiative, saying:
"It's wonderful to see the Council showing leadership to bring these major contract opportunities under one roof and see our local businesses taking proactive steps to explore new opportunities within the public sector. The insights shared from our public sector partners today equip them with the tools they need to grow and contribute to the wider economy in our Borough and beyond, while delivering essential works. The Council is committed to supporting these businesses as they lay the foundations for continued success."
The Council used the opportunity to emphasise its commitment to supporting local businesses, highlighting the array of support programmes available to aid them in building capacity, improving competitive standing, and winning contracts with large public sector entities.
