2024 STEM Award Nominees

This year, 12 talented employees were nominated for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) awards. Employees were nominated for awards from four different organizations: Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Women of Color (WOC), Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).

Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) Awards

Promising Professional Award: Recognizes top talent within an organization and highlights individuals with 2-10 years of experience.

Nominee: Gwynelle, Test Engineer III

SASEsalutes Military Service Award: Honors those of Asian heritage who serve or have served in our country's military. This award aims to support the transition of veterans entering the civilian workforce, acknowledge the achievements of Asian-heritage Americans within the U.S. Military and build awareness about the merits and benefits of a military career within the Asian community.

Nominee: Francis, Principal Systems Engineer

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Awards

Managerial Excellence Award: Honors a manager who is recognized for professional excellence in leading a STEM team or group. The nominee must have demonstrated innovative leadership in managing, inspiring, and motivating project teams, and promotes diversity in the work environment.

Nominee: Steven, Director, Operations

Star of Today Award: Honors a mid-level STEM employee who has demonstrated outstanding technical excellence resulting in significant accomplishments. This individual should be highly regarded and demonstrate exemplary leadership attributes, serving as a role model in the areas of professionalism, integrity, dedication, and a commitment to mentoring and community service.

Nominee: Raymond, Manager, Engineering

Star of Tomorrow Award: Honors a STEM employee who has demonstrated outstanding technical performance and is recognized by their peers and superiors. This individual should demonstrate a commitment to excellence and exhibit the potential for becoming a strong leader within their organization, serving as a role model in the areas of professionalism, integrity, dedication, and a commitment to mentoring and community service.

Nominee: Ashley, Operations Engineer III

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Awards

Emerging Advocate Award: This award honors an individual who has demonstrated professional excellence for less than 10 years in engineering, engineering management, engineering education, engineering technology or science related to engineering and has proven to be an advocate of women in engineering. The nominee must be in a position of influence within their current organization and/or community and have demonstrated passion in supporting women in engineering and SWE's Mission.

Nominee: Anna, Systems Engineer II

Pathfinder Award: This award honors a woman who has been actively engaged for 10-15 years in the fields of engineering, engineering management, engineering education, engineering technology or science related to engineering. The nominee must have demonstrated significant professional leadership in a technical field, as well as leadership in professional organizations and the community.

Nominee: Kasey, Manager, Engineer

Rising Technical Contributor Award: This award honors a woman who has been actively engaged for less than five years in the fields of engineering, engineering management, engineering education, engineering technology or science related to engineering as a professional or graduate student. The nominee must have demonstrated outstanding technical performance and/or leadership in a technical field, as well as leadership in professional organizations and the community.

Nominee: Alina, Systems Engineer III

Trailblazer Award: The Trailblazer Award is an Ascent level award in the Academia, Management and Technical track and Accomplishments in Academia, Management and Technology sub-track. This award honors an individual who identifies as a woman, who has been actively engaged for 5-10 years in the fields of engineering, engineering management, engineering education, engineering technology or science related to engineering. The nominee must have demonstrated outstanding technical performance and/or leadership in a technical field, as well as leadership in professional organizations and the community.

Nominee: Megan, Electrical Engineer III

Women of Color (WOC) Awards

Professional Achievement Award: This award recognizes a mid-career (21 or fewer years in the workforce) professional with significant accomplishments in a scientific, engineering or technology industry, or government agency. The nominee's academic qualifications are of less relevance than the impact of her achievements as a leader and role model.

Nominee: Sherri, Mechanical Engineer IV

Technology Rising Star Award: Rising Stars are young women, with under 15 years in the workforce, who are helping to shape technology for the future. They are honored at a special recognition event during the Women of Color STEM Conference.

Nominee: Michelle, Supplier Dev Engineer III

Nominee: Keri, Manager, IT
