The County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors approved $7.66 million across three funding sources for affordable housing and homelessness response efforts.
San Luis Obispo, CA-On May 21, 2024, the County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors approved $7.66 million across three funding sources for affordable housing and homelessness response efforts within San Luis Obispo County.
"The County of San Luis Obispo is committed to sustaining our homelessness response efforts while also pursuing new, evidence-based opportunities to prevent and end homelessness," said George Solis, Administrative Services Manager for the Homeless Services Division. "By supporting both immediate needs and long-term solutions, we aim to create a more stable and supportive environment for all residents of San Luis Obispo County."
The Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) fund for the City of Pismo Beach is intended to assist people experiencing or at risk of homelessness by addressing unmet housing-related needs. PLHA is allocated by the California Department of Housing and Community Development and administered locally by the County of San Luis Obispo. The $414,190.50 in available PLHA funds were allocated to the following organizations:
The Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) Program funds evidence-based efforts to end and prevent homelessness in local communities. HHAP is distributed to local jurisdictions by the California Interagency Council on Homelessness and administered locally by the County of San Luis Obispo. The $4,652,793.14 in available HHAP funds were allocated to the following organizations:
The Board of Supervisors also approved the County's commitment of Senate Bill 1090 funds to the City of San Luis Obispo's Project Homekey on Calle Joaquin. SB 1090 was intended to mitigate community impacts anticipated by the decommissioning of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant and stipulated funds to support affordable housing in the region.
