Yaw: Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Scholarships Help Local Students

WILLIAMSPORT/WELLSBORO-Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) was recently on-hand to help present $33,500 in scholarships to students attending St. John Neumann Regional Academy, St. Agnes Elementary School, Trinity Lutheran School, Epiphany Elementary School, New Covenant Academy and Grace Christian Academy. The scholarships were awarded through Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

Yaw and local state lawmakers, along with representatives from the Bridge Educational Foundation, a scholarship organization recognized as an approved 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, joined officials from M&T Bank and Waste Management to celebrate the scholarship announcement.

"Year after year, it is extremely rewarding to see how generous Pennsylvania businesses contribute to the Bridge Foundation through the EITC program," Yaw said. "These public-private partnerships strengthen our educational programs, while expanding academic opportunities for our children throughout our state."

"Pennsylvania's EITC Program is helping to connect businesses, like M&T Bank and Waste Management, with their future workforces," said Natalie Nutt, Executive Director of the Bridge Educational Foundation. "Bridge Educational Foundation is proud to be an ambassador for the EITC Program and to ensure its continued success it is important to bring together the stakeholders and celebrate the public-private partnership the EITC creates."

The EITC program provides companies with a 75 percent tax credit, 90 percent for a two-year commitment, for funds donated to approved, non-profit scholarship or educational improvement organizations.
