09/23/2024 - Hearing Attendance Requirements for Attorneys and Legal Representatives

Board Bulletins and Subject Numbers

September 23, 2024

The New York State Workers' Compensation Board (Board) is reopening to the public, by appointment only, for in-person hearings and other appointments, beginning October 8, 2024.

Any party attending a virtual hearing on or after October 8, 2024, can request to have their next workers' compensation hearing in person at a Board location. Such requests should be made directly to the Workers' Compensation Law Judge during a scheduled virtual hearing. Otherwise, hearings will remain virtual.

Important requirement for attorneys and legal representatives.

If, after October 8, 2024, any represented party requests to attend their hearing in person, their attorney or legal representative will be required to appear in person as well.

If an attorney or legal representative cannot attend in person, they must arrange for a substitute attorney or legal representative to appear with their client on their behalf.

For questions about in-person hearing attendance, please contact the Board's Office of General Counsel at [email protected].
