Minister of Foreign Affairs paid an Official Visit to India between 11 - 12 July 2024

On 11 - 12 July 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, made an official visit to India. It is the first visit of the Thai Foreign Minister since the India's general election in June this year.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, focusing on elevating the Strategic Partnership between Thailand and India. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation across various sectors, especially defense industry, trade, and investment. They emphasized the promotion of the private sector, enhancing people-to-people connectivity through the implementation of visa measures aimed at facilitating tourism. The Ministers also exchanged views on current global and regional issues, especially BIMSTEC of which Thailand will be hosting the Summit this September.

In conjunction to the visit, the Foreign Minister and H.E. Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Culture of India, jointly inaugurated the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition titled "Thailand-India Interwoven Legacies: Stream of Faith in Buddhism", held at the National Museum in New Delhi to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary. The exhibition features the collection of photos documenting the historic exposition of the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha and his esteemed disciples, Arahata Sariputra and Arahata Maudgalayana in Thailand. These revered relics embarked on a 26-day journey from the National Museum in New Delhi to Thailand during 22 February - 19 March 2024, reflecting the long-lasting of cultural bonds deeply rooted between Thailand and India.
