U-Haul Offers SoCal Fire Evacuees 30 Days of Free Storage at 19 Facilities

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2024) - U-Haul® is extending 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container usage to residents impacted by the wildfire outbreak across Southern California, which has prompted mandatory evacuations in multiple communities.

The Line Fire in San Bernardino County, Bridge Fire in Los Angeles County and Airport Fire in Orange County have burned tens of thousands of acres and caused a state of emergency. A number of homes have already been lost and injuries sustained.

Access to dry and secure self-storage and portable storage containers can be vital for communities coping with wildfires and other natural disasters.

The U-Haul Companies of San Bernardino and Riverside announced Wednesday that their 19 combined self-storage facilities across 15 cities will be available to provide one month of free self-storage and U-Box® services to evacuees and other residents in need.

The 30-day free offer applies to new storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability. People seeking more information or needing to arrange storage should contact the U-Haul office with a participating location nearest them:
