Nearly $1.1 Million Allocated to 64th District, Says James

Oct. 22, 2024

HARRISBURG - Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Crawford) announced nearly $1.1 million in state funding from the Local Share Account (LSA) Program is heading to the 64th District to assist with two community improvement projects.

"I am pleased to see these significant investments made into our communities so we can further grow and improve the district I am extremely honored to represent," said James.

Franklin City will receive $600,000 to remove an existing dam located on an unnamed tributary to the Allegheny River and restore the stream channel to its original flow path. The dam is considered high hazard with the potential for loss of property should a sudden failure occur. In order to comply with Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requirements, the dam and reservoir will be excavated and graded to create a new stream channel. The safety of the surrounding population will be restored by removing the risk of dam failure and flooding, as well as significantly reducing the sediment loads entering the watershed.

The remaining $491,860 is on its way to the Titusville Redevelopment Authority (TRA). The project will consist of renovating the third floor of the Titusville Towne Square building for the creation of a professional networking space. Funds will be used for renovation of the office space; the purchase of equipment, such as computer towers, monitors, speakers, webcams, microphones, chargers, HDMI cords, and printers; and internet costs. Additionally, funds will cover the HVAC system and building material costs. The space will include a library, private offices, call rooms, conference rooms, cubicle space, a lounge and an Airbnb.

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania's economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
