Appiarius Appointed as UW Ombudsperson

Don Appiarius has been appointed as the University of Wyoming's next ombudsperson and will begin Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The role of the ombudsperson is to provide a safe space to facilitate the process of problem-solving for faculty, staff and students. The Office of the Ombuds is committed to unbiased and fair services to the UW community through:

-- Listening to concerns and assisting in evaluating options to address them.

-- Providing information on university policies and procedures.

-- Providing information on how to make concerns known to the university.

-- Providing feedback to administration when systemic issues/trends occur.

Appiarius holds an Ed.D. in organizational management from Oakland City University, an M.S. in conflict management from George Mason University and dual B.A. degrees in political science and history from Mary Washington College.

Appiarius brings a wealth of experience in student affairs and conflict management, underscored by his extensive educational background and career in higher education. Notable highlights from his career include his roles as dean of students and ombudsman at Northern New Mexico College and vice president for student services at Eastern Wyoming College. His work has consistently focused on student success, conflict resolution and fostering supportive educational environments.
