An update to the Township's Solicitation Ordinance gives the Township and the community greater flexibility to manage door-to-door solicitors.
At their October 30 meeting, the Board of Supervisors authorized the advertisement of an amendment to the Solicitation Ordinance to be considered for adoption at the Board's November 21 meeting.
The change amends the days when soliciting is permitted and adds tiered penalties for individuals and organizations who violate ordinances, including a permanent ban for repeat offenders. The appeal process is also updated.
The changes strengthen the Township's "Do Not Knock" list, which residents can join each year to restrict door-to-door sales of goods, commodities, or services. The list does not include political canvassing. It is purged each year on December 31, and residents must register yearly.
