On Thursday, August 8, about 100 members of faith-based leaders gathered at Rhythm & Rally Sports & Events for the Mayor's Council of Clergy luncheon. The luncheon started with music and songs from the Gifted Harmony Choir. Speakers included United Way of Central Georgia President/CEO George McCanless, Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) Director Andrea Cooke, and representatives from Families 4 Families.

Cooke presented the findings from the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) report.

"Our luncheons give us a chance to let religious leaders know of our projects, opportunities, and other work, as well as to hear directly from them on issues they see impacting our community," says Dr. Henry Ficklin, Executive Director of Community Affairs. "What's especially exciting about this month is they get to see the world's largest indoor pickleball facility, how it can be used for many types of events, and how it's positively impacting our county and its health."

The Council typically meets every other month to give local faith leaders an opportunity to discuss issues facing their congregants and the community at large. They also have the chance to talk with other ministers and organizations aimed at promoting peace and justice in our community.
