The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of Iran Rashid Hassan Pour Baei in farewell visit.
The officials highlighted Serbia's commitment to friendly relations with Iran, built on the two countries' mutual understanding and respect. Brnabic stressed that the mutual desire to foster good relations was confirmed through numerous high-level meetings and visits in the past two years.
They also discussed the potential for the expansion of the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries through the visit of the Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of Iran, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, to Serbia.
Speaking of education, the Ambassador emphasised the importance of the "World in Serbia" programme, through which students from Iran regularly come to study in our country. This programme represents an important bridge between our cultures and contributes to bringing the young generations together, which strengthens mutual understanding and friendly relations.
In the area of economic cooperation, it was assessed that there is room for improvement, given that the exchange of goods between Serbia and Iran is currently of limited scope. Brnabic especially praised the participation of numerous Serbian companies in IRAN EXPO 2024, which indicates the potential for further strengthening of economic relations, especially in the field of agriculture and the IT sector.
Cooperation between Serbia and Iran is also successfully realised on the multilateral level, where both countries provide mutual support within the framework of international organisations, thereby further strengthening their partnership on the global stage, the officials concluded.
At the end of the meeting, Speaker Brnabic thanked Ambassador Baei for his contribution to the improvement of bilateral relations during his mandate and wished him success in his future career.
