NEWS RELEASE: Cody Petterson to Serve as President of Board of Education; Barrera VP

CODY PETTERSON TO SERVE AS PRESIDENT OF SD UNIFIED BOARD OF EDUCATION; BARRERA VP

SAN DIEGO (DECEMBER 17, 2024) - The San Diego Unified Board of Education unanimously selected District C Trustee Cody Pettersonto serve as its next President, and District D Trustee Richard Barrerato serve as its Vice President.

After Tuesday night's selection of new Board officers, Interim Superintendent Dr. Fabi Bagula said, "I look forward to working with Trustees Petterson and Barerra as they lead the Board of Education in the New Year. They are committed to delivering educational excellence to our students, and as we make important decisions about our finances and curriculum, I know they will be tremendous partners in our work."

Trustees Petterson and Barerra will serve in their new posts for one year. Shana Hazanis the outgoing President of the Board of Education, and Petterson served alongside her as Vice President. New Board officers are selected annually.
