RI GOP Chairman Joe Powers Tells Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to "Knock It Off"

Warwick, RI - RI Republican Party Chairman Joe Powers is calling out Commerce Secretary and former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo for her dangerous and irresponsible comments about former President Donald J. Trump. Raimondo recently said, "Let's extinguish him for good!"-a remark that is not only inflammatory but completely unacceptable given the threats that President Trump has already faced.

Chairman Powers was direct in his criticism of Raimondo's rhetoric. "We've already seen Donald Trump face multiple attempts on his life, yet Secretary Raimondo thinks the left hasn't gone far enough". Powers continues,"Her comment is not only reckless, but it's also a glaring reminder of the violent rhetoric the left uses to try to silence opposition. You would think someone in her position would choose her words more wisely."

Powers also drew a comparison to Raimondo's dismissive attitude during her time as Governor of Rhode Island. "This is the same Gina Raimondo who told Rhode Islanders to 'knock it off' when all they wanted was to see their families during the COVID. She was more focused on auditioning for a role in the Biden administration than addressing the needs of her own state. Now, in her new role, she's throwing around incendiary comments again like she's still trying to impress someone."
The Rhode Island Republican Party condemns this kind of language and the underlying disregard for civil discourse. Powers added, "Raimondo's words are yet another example of the left's desperate attempts to erase any challenge to their agenda. It's no wonder people are tired of the establishment-so much for the 'party of joy'."
