BYNUM TO THE BANK: Janelle Bynum Posts “Whopping” Fundraising Haul Over Vulnerable Incumbent Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Even before Democrats broke 24-hour fundraising records this week, Janelle Bynum raised a "whopping " $1.3 million in May and June alone, dwarfing the vulnerable Republican by nearly half a million dollars.

Oregonians are fed up with Lori Chavez-DeRemer's perpetual hypocrisy on her anti-abortion record, including praising the Dobbs decision to rip away reproductive rights from women across the country, supporting a nationwide abortion ban, and endangering IVF before attempting to deceive voters about her record with a "useless" IVF resolution.

Meanwhile, Janelle Bynum has been a consistent champion and bipartisan problem solver for Oregonians. As a state senator, Bynum worked to preserve and expand Oregonians' access to abortion and has promised to continue that fight in Congress - highlighting just one of the reasons voters and donors trust her to deliver for hardworking families in Oregon's 5th Congressional District.

DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
"Lori Chavez-DeRemer is weaker than ever because Oregonians know she'll always cave to MAGA Republicans just to stay in power. From unprecedented endorsements to huge fundraising hauls, Bynum's continued momentum proves that Oregon voters know she will be an honest, transparent representative who will work across the aisle to get things done in Congress."

Oregon Capital Chronicle: Oregon Democrats lead in fundraising for competitive congressional districts

  • Janelle Bynum, a Democratic state representative challenging incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer in the closely divided 5th Congressional District, reported receiving about $1.3 million on the second quarter report she filed with the Federal Election Commission this week - almost double the amount raised by any other Oregon candidate.

  • Bynum, who handily won her primary against 2022 Democratic nominee Jamie McLeod-Skinner, benefitted from an influx of money from liberal political action committees after her primary victory.

  • Bynum ended the quarter with more than $1 million in her campaign bank account.

  • "This latest fundraising haul is more than just numbers, they represent the trust and hope that voters have placed in Janelle's vision for Oregon's future," campaign manager Blakely Wall said in a statement. "Janelle will continue to share her message of standing up to extremists, like Lori Chavez-DeRemer, in Congress and creating actual solutions to the biggest issues facing Oregon."
