In late August, the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity celebrated the dedication of three new homes they and volunteers had recently built. The homes are located on Duncan Ave in Napier Heights and Worsham Avenue and Irving Avenue in Lynmore Estates.

During the dedication, Macon Habitat and the community joined with the new homeowners - the Cooper, McCoy, and Beasley families - to dedicate their homes and thank the many partners, donors and volunteers that helped with construction.

The three homes dedicated during the ceremony were the final three homes built with the investment of $500,000 from Macon-Bibb County's American Rescue Plan Act funds and a matching grant from The Peyton Anderson Foundation. The $1 million program is being used to build eight homes. The mortgage payments from these will be used to build even more in the future. The eight homes are being built on properties that had blighted structures on them that were demolished as part of the Blight Fight.

"Each time we get to dedicate a new home with a family is an opportunity for us to also say thank you to everyone who helped make each families' dreams come true," said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. "Each home is built with the love and investment of volunteers, donors and partners who have recognized the need for safe and affordable housing in our community. We are excited to welcome three new families home and hand over the keys to an exciting next step in their lives."
