Mikhail Mishustin holds strategic session on the development of state statistics

Good afternoon, colleagues.

Today our agenda includes aspects of developing the official statistics. This is the main source of information for assessing the social and economic situation, shaping public policy in general, and making managerial decisions.

Thanks to the big data analysis, we get a complete and reliable picture of what is happening in the country. This helps to better understand people's needs and demands, and gives entrepreneurs modern tools to improve the quality of strategic planning, which directly determines companies' sustainability and competitiveness.

Our core task is to provide for the statistics impartiality and timeliness. There is also a need for monitoring any changes in the economy as promptly as possible and, of course, to respond immediately to changes in the circumstances, especially amid an unprecedented sanctions pressure.

It is important for people to be able to use reliable and verified information notwithstanding the unstopping increase in the number of sources and types of data. And all of them need to be identified, systematised, made understandable and relevant.

For this purpose, we are working to improve the technological processes of data collection and processing, including the use of advanced information technology solutions.

Since last year we have started the gradual adoption of the statistical platform. It is based on a unified methodology and digital infrastructure. We need to complete development of all its key components and ensure their uninterrupted operation.

We pay special attention to the information analysis systems based on the artificial intelligence. We can use them to provide more accurate information, but, importantly, they can be analysed in real time, enabling quick decision-making. This is something we apply everywhere in various sectors of the economy. Federal executive authorities also use these solutions very actively.

To increase the speed of statistics generation, we are planning to switch to unified classifiers and directories. We will also remove barriers in the exchange of data between agencies. And we will transform the reporting system in order to optimise the practice of providing information.

Here we strive to meet the demands of the business community. This past July the President signed a law tangibly reducing the reporting load on small businesses. Reducing the load on business is one of the Government's priorities.

Colleagues.

Draft strategy for the development of the Federal Service for State Statistics for the next six years has been completed. And it is necessary to start implementing all the planned measures as soon as possible.

Today we will discuss in detail all the relevant approaches that have been proposed in this area.

And, before the final decisions are made, we will of course take into account the opinions of all those who are attending today's strategic session.
