Pinal County is sad to report the passing of former County Supervisor and Casa Grande Mayor Jimmie Kerr, who passed away earlier this week.
Jimmie epitomized the meaning of a public servant. Between 1963, when he was elected to the Casa Grande Council, and 2004, when he retired as a County Supervisor, he served 16 years as Mayor across two terms and 20 years as County Supervisor across two terms. With four years on the Casa Grande Council at the outset, that's a total of 40 years of public service as an elected official to his community.
Jimmie, who was 90 years old, moved to Casa Grande in 1939. Supervisor Miller, who has lived in Casa Grande for over fifty years, honored Jimmie last December with a Certificate for Civic Engagement Award (see photo). If you would like to learn more about Jimmie and the impact he had on Casa Grande and Pinal County, he did an interview with the Museum of Casa Grande in 2004, which can be read here.
