-- Letters of Interest Due to City Clerk's Office by 3 PM on July 26 --

TACOMA, Wash. -- The City Clerk's Office is seeking volunteers for committees writing statements "for" and "against" proposed City Charter amendments.

Resolutions detailing the proposed Charter amendments were adopted at Tuesday's City Council meeting, and a resolution transmitting the full ballot titles to the Pierce County Auditor will be considered at the City Council meeting on July 23, 2024.

To be considered for appointment to the "For" or "Against" committee, interested individuals are asked to submit a letter of interest to the City Clerk's Office by 3 PM on July 26, 2024. Letters may be sent by email to [email protected]or by mail to 747 Market Street, Room 220, Tacoma, WA 98402.

Each individual must submit their own letter of interest, including their full name, address, which proposed amendment(s) they are interested in, and why they would like to serve on the "For" or "Against" committee(s). Those interested in more than one proposed Charter amendment are asked to list and indicate whether they are "for" or "against" each one within the body of a single letter as well as why they want to serve on each one.

The Government Performance and Finance Committee will consider the letters of interest at a special meeting on July 29, 2024 at 10 AM. The special meeting will be conducted in a hybrid format that includes in-person and remote options to attend at the Tacoma Municipal Building (747 Market St., Room 248), by dialing (253) 215-8782 (using meeting ID 844 1669 0206 and passcode 614650), or going to
zoom.us/j/84416690206(using passcode 614650).

Statements prepared by the "For" and "Against" committees will appear in the Voters' Pamphlet, and are due to the Pierce County Auditor on or before August 8, 2024. Rebuttal statements are due on or before August 12, 2024.
