SCSU to host learning and technology summit for Minnesota educators

St. Cloud State University will host the Minnesota Learning Commons (MnLC) 2024 Learning and Technology Summit on Aug. 8, showcasing the University's commitment to continually support innovative teaching practices.

The summit brings together educators from Minnesota State, the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Education/Pk12 school districts, allowing for valuable idea-sharing in the leadup to the academic year.

"Being selected to host the MnLC 2024 Learning & Technology Summit is a valuable opportunity to bring practitioners from both higher education and Pk-12 school districts, thought leaders, instructional designers, academic technologists, and administrators together on our amazing campus," said Dave Blanchard, Director of SCSU Online and Distance Learning. "The summit aligns with SCSU's pursuit to foster innovative and effective teaching and learning practices, and it encourages the adoption of meaningful technologies and methods that can improve educational outcomes."

MnLC organizes the event and supports educators teaching in online, blended and digital learning environments. The robust schedule on Aug. 8 features many sessions led by SCSU faculty.

"It's rare for education and technology specialists from these different parts of the Minnesota educational landscape to have a chance to learn from and with each other," said Janet Tilstra, Director of SCSU's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. "The event offers an opportunity for a rich cross-pollination of ideas, examples of innovations that may be replicated or extended and space to discuss educational implications of emerging technologies such as AI and virtual reality,"

Tilstra added that the timing of the event is ideal for energizing and inspiring those working in education and technology for the academic year.

There is still time for attendees and presenters to register before Aug. 8.
