MFA led the diplomatic corps and foreign media to Sakhon Nakhon province to explore tourism and the economic potential of Isaan

On 5 August 2024, Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, MFA, hosted a dinner talk for members of the diplomatic corps and foreign media participating in the study visit on 'The Charm of Isaan: Transforming Local Wisdom into Creative Economy' at Vela Dhi Hotel in Nakhon Phanom province.

On this occasion, Mr. Wanchai Chanporn, Governor of Nakhon Phanom province, warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted the cultural diversity that makes Nakhon Phanom unique. He also introduced the "3 best" of Nakhon Phanom; (1) the most sacred Phra That Phanom, (2) the most beautiful of the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridges, and (3) the most beautiful Mekong vistas. With these features, the province has attracted the highest number of visitors in the Isaan region for the past 2 years.

Ms. Saowanee Khonkla, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Nakhon Phanom Office, briefed the delegation on the tourism potential of Nakhon Phanom as a 'Restination', which is a tourist destination where rest and relaxation are uniquely highlighted. Ms. Saowanee also introduced the popular festivals of the province. Mr. Thanapat Teekathananont, President of Nakhon Phanom Chamber of Commerce, highlighted how the economic development in the province is based firmly in creativity, its rich culture and history, and the use of technology, which has paved the way for the creative economy to blossom.

The following day, the delegation had the opportunity to visit Phaya Sisattanakharat, a sacred landmark for both Nakhon Phanom residents and visitors, and to enjoy the scenic views of the Mekong River.
