FDNY promotes 112 EMS members at ceremony

The FDNY promoted 112 of its EMS members during a ceremony Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.

"FDNY EMS truly has an extraordinary impact on our great city," Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. "There are countless, split-second, life-changing decisions spread out over thousands of calls for help every day. As a member of this community, your work is nothing short of remarkable. It demands compassion, skill and bravery."

At the ceremony, 63 EMTs were promoted to paramedic, one deputy chief was promoted to division chief, two lieutenants were promoted to captain and 46 paramedics were promoted to paramedic lieutenant. The newly promoted members will be assigned to units across New York City.
