Accident to the Robin DR400 registered F-HACQ on 12/08/2022 at Bagnères-de-Luchon

Accident to the Robin DR400 registered F-HACQ on 12/08/2022 at Bagnères-de-Luchon

Aborted landing, loss of control, collision with ground, fire

Investigation progression Closed
Progress: 100%

The pilot of F-HACQ was not aware of the specificities linked to the use of Bagnères-de-Luchon aerodrome. He aborted his south-facing approach at a low height because he found himself too high on the approach slope.
Witnesses at the aerodrome explained that they saw the aeroplane climb at a low speed and steep angles, in the landing configuration and that it was unstable in roll. This description corresponds to flight on the backside of the power curve. The pilot then lost control of the aeroplane. It very probably stalled in a turn as the pilot attempted to continue the climb.
