With the 2024 general election (almost) in the books. Here is an update on the outcomes and observations on this election cycle.

Nebraska's federal delegation had a successful night on November 5 with all five members securing re-election. Senator Fischer triumphed over her opponent by a margin of eight percentage points, despite predictions of a close race leading up to election day. Senator Ricketts won his special election by an expected large margin of 25 percentage points. It is important to note that this election was to fill out the remaining term of Senator Sasse and he will again be up for re-election in 2026.

In Congressional District (CD) 1 Congressman Flood defeated Carol Blood by 21 points. In CD 2 Congressman Bacon had an expected tight race with Tony Vargas but was successful with a two point margin. In CD 3 Congressman Smith won with a 60-point advantage.

Nationally, the GOP has gained control of the Senate with 53 seats and retained control with Republicans having 218 of the 435 seats with 8 races yet to be called. Either party needs 218 seats to have control.
