Interested in learning more about how housing gets developed in Sacramento? Attend these upcoming workshops

The City of Sacramento is hosting a series of eight community workshops to educate the public about its strategies for making housing more affordable and accessible. These workshops will offer residents a chance to learn about key housing concepts and engage directly with City planning professionals.

The workshops are part of the newly launched "Sacramento for All" educational campaign, which includes a new housing resource center educational website.

Each workshop will cover two main topics: the concept of affordable housing and the role of "infill" development-using available land and infrastructure more efficiently to support new housing.

Attendees will participate in interactive activities designed to explore what affordable and infill housing means for the community. The workshops will also highlight recent and upcoming housing developments in various neighborhoods.

"The workshops are an opportunity to engage in exercises that build empathy and community support for affordable and infill housing," said Associate Planner, Greta Soos. "The team is looking forward to meeting with members of the community to share more about the City's housing strategies and answer any questions they may have."

The community is invited to attend and learn more about affordable and infill housing development in Sacramento. A workshop will be hosted in each Council district:

  • Thursday, Sept. 26 at North Natomas Library (District 1)
  • Monday, Sept. 30 at South Natomas Community Center (District 3)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Hart Senior Center (District 4)
  • Thursday, Oct. 3 at Oak Park Community Center (District 5)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Coloma Community Center (District 6)
  • Thursday, Oct. 17 at Hagginwood Community Center (District 2)
  • Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Belle Cooledge Library (District 7)
  • Thursday, Nov. 14 at Pannell Community Center (District 8)

Please RSVP to attend a community workshop.

These workshops are free and dinner will be provided. Vegan and gluten-free options will be available. If you are unsure of which Council District workshop to attend, please visit Find your District and enter your address.

The "Sacramento For All" educational campaign is part of the City's Housing Element, an eight-year housing plan. The City of Sacramento earned the State's Pro-Housing designation in 2022, recognizing its leadership in addressing housing needs.
