REP. NANCY MACE JOINS OVERSIGHT HEARING ON ENDING ILLEGAL RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AND PROTECTING WORKPLACE SAFETY

(Washington, D.C., June 26th, 2024) - Congresswoman Nancy Mace, a key member of the House Committee on Government Oversight and Accountability will be questioning witnesses in a hearing titled "Standing up for the Rule of Law: Ending Illegal Racial Discrimination and Protecting Men and Women in U.S. Employment Practices." The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. ET in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building.

"The great American workforce thrives on opportunity and merit, not the divisive and damaging DEI initiatives that prioritize identity over ability. It is crucial to uphold the rule of law," said Rep. Mace's Communications Director Gabrielle Lipsky

The hearing will focus on recent developments and concerns related to the enforcement of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). In light of the Supreme Court's recent decision against race-based admissions policies, the hearing will also address the letter from 13 state Attorneys General urging Fortune 100 CEOs to adopt race-neutral employment practices. Furthermore, the hearing will examine the EEOC's new guidance on sex-based discrimination, which has raised significant concerns about workplace safety and the enforcement of pronoun usage and access to gender-specific facilities.

The hearing will feature testimony from key witnesses, including:

  • The Honorable Todd Rokita, Attorney General of Indiana
  • Jonathan Berry, Managing Partner at Boyden Gray PLLC;
  • and Inez Feltscher Stepman, Senior Policy and Legal Analyst at the Independent Women's Forum.
