Come Back … Be Here: Mosaic Joins Taylor Swift #BacktoSaskatch Campaign

MOSAIC WILL DONATE $19,000 TO THE REGINA FOOD BANK IF TAYLOR SWIFT GIVES A SHOUT OUT TO SASKATCHEWAN ON SOCIAL MEDIA
August 27, 2024

The people of Saskatchewan are asking one of the biggest artists in the world to make their wildest dreams come true - and The Mosaic Company is joining the cause.

Taylor Swift has been on her record-breaking Eras Tour since March 2023. The global superstar has sold more than 4.3 million tickets for 152 shows across five continents. And while some locals may have been one of the lucky ones to score tickets to either her Vancouver or Toronto shows later this year - the very last stops on the tour - Saskatchewanians have embarked on their own #BacktoSaskatch campaign led by Rawlco Radio.

The effort began when one of Rawlco's Z99 DJs discovered a post on X where Swift claimed she enjoyed antique shopping in Saskatchewan, which she refers to as Saskatch. The post was made in 2009, but its newfound popularity has Canadians hoping Swift would be enchanted to see the province again before her tour concludes close to New Year's Day. Efforts to get Swift #BacktoSaskatch include renaming streets and cities in her honor, an attempt to build the world's longest friendship bracelet and a Swift-themed dance party.

Mosaic Asks Swift to Speak Now

With a mission to help the world grow the food it needs, Mosaic knows all too well the importance of fighting hunger in the communities where we operate. That's why our support for bringing Swift #BacktoSaskatch is focused on helping those in need.

Swift has supported food banks around the globe throughout the duration of her Eras Tour, including covering a year's worth of meals in Liverpool. That's why Mosaic will donate $19,000 to the Regina Food Bank if Swift mentions Saskatchewan in a social media post between Aug. 26 and Sept. 7, a 13-day period. If she leaves a blank space on her calendar and adds Saskatchewan to her list of Eras Tour stops, Mosaic will donate a total of $89,000 to food security in Saskatchewan.

When Taylor returns to the province, she can also expect to see Taylor Field at Mosaic Stadium, just like when the Riders won the '89 Grey Cup.

"We are impressed with Taylor's commitment to leaving an impact in the many locations she visits by making incredible donations to food security," said Marnel Jones, Director, Government and Public Affairs for Mosaic. "That's a cause very close to the heart of who we are as a company. This is our way of bringing the province together and supporting our neighbours at a time when rising food cost dramatically increased food bank usage."

According to the nonprofit's annual 2023 - 2024 report, the Regina Food Bank served nearly 20,000 unique individuals across 66,000 households, up 21.7% from the previous year, 38% of whom are children. The food bank distributed $11 million dollars' worth of food to those in need, an increase of 16.2% from the previous year, and diverted more than 3.2 million pounds of healthy, quality food from the landfill. Food was also delivered to 10 food banks in Saskatchewan and five across Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta.

In 2023, Mosaic invested a total of $1.7 million with food partners in the province. Additionally, Mosaic formed a transformative partnership with the Regina Food Bank for a five-year, $1 million contribution to bring the first choice-oriented food hub in the nation to our community. The ASAHTOWIKAMIK Food Hub, located at 1881 Broad Street, is designed like a shopping market and gives people the opportunity to choose what their families need - like a customer, not a client.

As Regina Food Bank's longest-standing partner, Mosaic has helped secure more than 5 million meals for the community through the partnership.

If Swift chooses to make Saskatchewan her end game, Mosaic will give her a tour of the food hub to show how we support our neighbours in need.
