EPA Reaches $584,000 Settlement with RBL Products in Detroit, Michigan, for Allegedly Selling Unregistered Pesticide Products

Today, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a settlement with RBL Products Inc. located at 6040 Russell St.,Detroit, Michigan, for allegedly selling unregistered pesticide products in violation of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. The company has stopped producing and selling the pesticide products and will pay a $584,000 penalty.

RBL Products allegedly distributed or sold three unregistered pesticides: G200 Surface Sanitizer and Disinfectant, GClean G200 Surface Sanitizer and Disinfectant Wipes, and Isopropyl Alcohol Wipes, used for sanitizing and disinfecting hard surfaces.

Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, products that claim to kill, destroy, prevent, or repel bacteria or viruses are considered pesticides and must go through EPA's registration process to ensure that the products perform as intended prior to their distribution or sale. Pesticidal public health claims can only be made for products that have been registered with EPA.
