The Hispanic Association of colleges and Universities is partnering with the Steve Fund, an organization focused on the mental health and emotional well-being of young people of color, to offer ten scholarships to join the fall cohort of the Equity in Mental Health on Campus (EMHC) initiative. The deadline for HACU-Member Institutions to apply for the fall cohort is October 25, 2024. Orientation for the fall cohort is Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 1-2:30 p.m.
The main goal for the Equity in Mental Health Campus (EMHC) Initiative is to guide and support institutions through an impactful 18-month process that make the mental health of students of color a campus wide priority.
The EMHC initiative complements existing institutional efforts to initiate changes in campus racial climate, policies, programs, and services that affect the mental health and well-being of students of color. The initiative offers colleges and universities campus-specific needs assessment report with recommendations, engagement with a dedicated coach providing guidance through the process, and participation in a national cohort of institutions committed to supporting and addressing the mental health needs of young people of color.
HACU hosted a webinar titled "STEVE Fund-Mental Health on Campus," for HACU-members, on Sept. 18, 2024. The webinar can be viewed here.
The application is available here. For more information on the Equity in Mental Health on Campus initiative, contact [email protected] or [email protected] at the Steve Fund.
