New AI-powered analytics for ERP, HCM, SCM, CX

For many years, Fusion Applications Warehouse (FAW) has been the recommended analytics solution for Fusion Apps customers. Over that period, FAW has evolved considerably, adding scope, new technologies like AI, and new types of analytics applications. This evolution has been significant enough to warrant a new vision and new branding: meet Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI). This post shows how FDI is different from-and improves upon-its predecessor, including new AI-powered enhancements. It will help get you quickly up to speed on changes to product names, capabilities, and pricing.

1. What is FDI?

FDI is the next generation of FAW. It's built for Oracle cloud applications and brings together heterogenous business data, analytics apps, and AI to help business users make decisions and take action. Why the change? With the success of FAW, customers began asking us to tackle bigger, more challenging data and analytics problems.

2. Is FDI a new offering?

FDI is a not a new product; rather, it is an evolution of FAW. The name change reflects increased scope, new capabilities, and a wider vision.

3. Does the Fusion Analytics Warehouse and FAW branding go away?

Yes. The offering formerly known as Fusion Analytics Warehouse (FAW) will now be known as Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI).

4. How is FDI different from Fusion Analytics?

Fusion Analytics (i.e., Fusion HCM Analytics, Fusion ERP Analytics, etc.) are part of FDI, though sold separately.

5. What capabilities stay the same, and what's new in FDI?

As with FAW, customers using FDI will continue to get interactive metrics through an Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) instance (OAC is part of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure). FDI still comes with a predefined semantic model, domain-specific subject areas (e.g., Profitability, Inventory Transactions, Workforce Gains and Losses, etc.), and more than 3,000 out-of-the-box metrics. These metrics span ERP, SCM, HCM, and CX business processes. Customers using FDI also get access to new, AI-powered data-exploration capabilities in OAC every other month, including enhancements across natural language queries, AI-generated insights, automatic data augmentation, mobile and podcasting features, and more.

What's new:

  • Integration across applications and industries: FDI is part of a broader strategy to provide a data-intelligence platform for all Oracle applications including NetSuite, Oracle Health, and Oracle Industry Solutions such as financial services and utilities.
  • Data lake house platform: FDI uses OCI object storage for storing, transforming, and sharing data across applications.
  • Intelligent Applications: Intelligent Applications are not systems of record (i.e., transactional applications). Instead, they are systems of insight: analytics and machine learning (ML) applications that help users better understand what is going on in their businesses. They are specialized, focused on specific domain areas, and aim to provide insights and recommendations across Fusion Apps modules as well as incorporating other relevant data. Examples include Supply Chain Command Center, People Leader Workbench, and Dynamic Sales Forecasting.
  • Prescriptive AI models: FDI includes a data pipeline to transform data from our cloud apps for use in analytics and to train ML models for predictive (i.e., forecasting what might happen in the future) and prescriptive (i.e., recommending actions based on forecasts) analytics. The ML models work across business functions and can be used in interactive dashboards, Intelligent Applications, or in custom applications.
  • Expanded extensibility framework: Customers, ISVs, and Oracle partners can create their own reports and new Intelligent Applications using the same platform.

6. When will FDI be available?

Some capabilities of FDI are available now in products like Fusion HCM Analytics, Fusion ERP Analytics, Fusion SCM Analytics, and Fusion CX Analytics. But some of the newer capabilities, including Intelligent Applications, will be delivered in the future. Details are available on the roadmaps page on Oracle Cloud Customer Connect (login required).

7. How will FDI affect pricing?

Pricing for existing products is unchanged. We have not yet announced pricing for new products.

In summary

We think you'll be excited by the expanded scope and unique technical attributes of FDI. It's a significant step forward, offering a unique combination of business data, prebuilt analytics, and AI/ML models on one platform. For Fusion Apps customers, it presents an opportunity to jumpstart business intelligence initiatives with solutions that are certified to work with Fusion Apps and play well with other data sources, too.
