On June 20, according to the List of Innovation Achievements in National Power Industry Equipment Management in 2024 released at the Annual Conference on Equipment Management for the National Power Industry, Guangdong Taishan Power Plant won the First Prize of National Power Industry Management Innovation Award for three achievements.

The National Power Industry Equipment Management Innovation Awards are determined through a rigorous selection process by a judging panel from the China Electric Equipment Management Association and multiple rounds of expert evaluations, with focus on assessing innovation significance, practicality, and social benefits. The participating units include major power and energy enterprises across the country, making these awards a significant benchmark and model for the industry.

The three award-winning innovations from Taishan Power Plant include: First, the AI-powered Safety Intelligent Recognition System for Coal Feeding. This innovation achievement addresses critical safety and efficiency challenges in the fuel systems of thermal power plants. Its applicability extends to industries such as thermal power, coal mining, and port operations. Second, the Multi-Coupling Intelligent Coal Blending and Combustion System Based on Spot Market Mode. This system helps improve fuel supply management for generator units, optimize coal blending strategies and resolve key issues like complex coal combustion schemes, dry coal blending, and coal blending ratios, contributing to the safe and stable operation of units under spot market trading conditions. Third, the Large Coal-Fired Generator Unit Cluster with Integrated Frequency Regulation System Supported by Electrochemical Energy Storage. This innovation involves the construction of a 25MW/25MWh and a 35MW/35MWh frequency regulation systems supported by electrochemical energy storage. In conjunction with generator units, the system is involved in grid automatic generation control (AGC) frequency regulation. The fast regulation speed and high precision enable the large-capacity electrochemical storage system to rapidly response to AGC commands. Since its operation in June, revenue from frequency regulation mileage has reached RMB 118.563 million. This not only improves the AGC performance of coal-fired generator units but also creates new profit growth points, showcasing excellent economic benefits and potential for broader application.
