🚨RATINGS CHANGE🚨: Inside Elections Moves CA-45 in Favor of Derek Tran

Yesterday, the non-partisan election forecaster Inside Elections shifted California's 45th Congressional District in Derek Tran's favor from "Lean Republican" to "Tilt Republican."

Inside Elections attributes the change in part to Tran's groundswell of support from Vietnamese-American voters in the heavily-AANHPI district, which recent polling found to be at a strong baseline of 62% to Steel's 30%.

From the ratings change:

Polling shows this race even or with a slight advantage to Steel over attorney Derek Tran. Tran, whose parents fled Vietnam, may be benefiting from higher-than-normal support from Vietnamese-American voters, who make up a significant minority of the district and typically favor Republicans… Shift from Lean Republican to Tilt Republican, in favor of Democrats.

DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
"The ground is quickly shifting below Michelle Steel's feet, and Republicans are clearly worried as their desperate attacks continue to fall flat. Derek Tran - an Army veteran, small business owner, and the son of Vietnamese refugees - is ready to send Steel packing and finally give families across Orange County the representation they deserve."
