AMEXCID, National Rehabilitation Institute join forces to advance medical innovation
  • The project aims to enhance rehabilitation practices and attract international talent from Latin America, Europe, Asia, and North America

The Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) and the Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra National Rehabilitation Institute (INRLGII) held their first joint session to explore collaboration opportunities for attracting international talent and fostering medical innovation in rehabilitation.

They agreed to expand the recruitment of international talent from Latin America, Europe, Asia, and North America, and to provide international opportunities for INRLGII professionals through agreements and AMEXCID's network of contacts to promote exchanges of doctors and researchers.

They also discussed developing joint research and innovation projects to leverage INRLGII's strengths in areas such as rehabilitation, technology development, assistance, orthotics, and prosthetics.

Additionally, they agreed to announce various calls for the health sector. AMEXCID will design scholarship programs tailored to the needs of the National Health Institutes, including medical specialties, research stays, and exchange programs.

Carlos Pineda Villaseñor, Director General of INRLGII, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, "This partnership with AMEXCID aligns with our commitment to excellence in professional training and leadership development in rehabilitation, both nationally and internationally."

Eduardo García Lima, Head of Academic Exchange at AMEXCID, emphasized the agency's role in facilitating development cooperation. He stressed the importance of understanding INRLGII's specific needs to enhance AMEXCID's programs.

Following the discussions, AMEXCID representatives toured INRLGII's facilities, gaining insight into its advanced clinical and technological capabilities.

This strategic alliance aims to bolster INRLGII's global standing in rehabilitation and strengthen Mexico's international health cooperation, ultimately improving rehabilitation care across Latin America and beyond.

The meeting was also attended by INRLGII's Surgical Director, Juan Antonio Madinaveitia Villanueva; Medical Director, Álvaro Lomelí Rivas; Acting Director of Research, Alberto Hidalgo Bravo; and Acting Director of Health Education, Lidya Estela Zerón Gutiérrez.

AMEXCID was also represented by Diego Díaz Gómez, Head of the Scholarship Promotion and Dissemination Center, and Cristina García Hernández, Head of Central America and Caribbean Regions.

Magdalena Delgado Bernal, Director of Health Education at the General Directorate of Quality and Health Education (DGCES) of the Ministry of Health, attended on behalf of her organization.
