Smoke in the Area last evening and this morning, October 28th

During the night & early this morning, Cambridge fire companies, as well as fire companies in our metro area, responded to several "odor of smoke" calls due to the smoke from the brush fires in the North Shore area, including Salem, Saugus, Lynn, Peabody, etc.

The smoke has now dissipated. During smoky atmospheric conditions due to area brush fires, residents with lung & medical issues would be advised to keep windows closed until the air clears.

As always, for a fire, medical, or other emergency, call 911 right away or pull the nearest city fire alarm box.

The fire in the photograph was from a major brush fire in Salem, Ma. (WCVB photo).

And please remember! Be extra cautious with ignition sources, including smoking materials, in this period of extremly dry weather.
