Garfield School - Phoenix Then & Now

​ Part of Phoenix Elementary School District #1, Arizona's first free public school district serving students in the City of Phoenix since 1871, Garfield School opened in 1913 one year before Arizona became a state. In 1954 the school was the location for "Tomorrow's Drivers" a film about driving safety featuring famous actor James (Jimmy) Stewart. Garfield is a certified garden school hosting the Garfield Garden on the Corner program. This innovative collaborative program creates a direct connection between students, food, and education.​
