M-28 resurfacing in Alger County starts Aug. 12

NEWBERRY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing nearly $1.2 million to resurface about 3.7 miles of M-28 from Scott Falls Roadside Park east to Harborview Road in Alger County. Work includes paver-placed surface sealer, crack filling, rumble strips, and pavement markings. This project includes a three-year pavement performance warranty.

Traffic restrictions:
Work will be performed during daytime hours only. One lane of alternating traffic will be maintained on M-28 using traffic regulators. An 11-foot lane width restriction will be in place on M-28 during the project.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 15 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This project will increase safety for motorists and extend the lifespan of the roadway.
