Day of the Seafarer – 25th June 2024

Our industry has been through tumultuous time recently and trade has been impacted by many events. COVID had significant impacts on seafarers, the current Red Sea crisis is having perhaps an even greater effect. With this weeks sinking of a second vessel "Tutor" plus several other vessels were attacked has brought the issues back into sharp focus.

What many overlook is that in the same region Somali pirates have been holding the crew of Galaxy Leader for over 200 days. Therefore, BIFA would ask all Members who move cargo by maritime to remember the crew who are often overlooked but are essential to the whole system.
