New SR 40 Signalized Intersection goes live next week in Camden County

KINGSLAND- The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) will activate a new signalized intersection Tuesday, July 30 on SR 40 at Grove Boulevard in Kingsland about one mile west of Interstate 95 interchange (Exit 3) in Camden County.

Intersection improvements are in conjunction with the SR 40 widening project. The contractor has installed and bagged the new signals. This signalized intersection will provide pedestrian crosswalks and flashing yellow arrows in the left turn lanes to enhance safety and optimize operational efficiency.

While not expected to be in service for the Tuesday morning commute, the signal should be fully functional by midday, weather permitting. Local law enforcement will handle traffic control during activations. Message boards are in place this week near the intersection to alert motorists of this new traffic signal location and activation date.

Motorists are always advised to proceed cautiously through intersections, but most certainly so next week during activation and the days to follow as drivers become acclimated to the new signals.

Advisory: Exact time may change due to weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
