Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center welcomes Nkechi Okotcha, MD, Neonatologist

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center welcomes neonatologist Nkechi Okotcha, MD, to the Regional Intensive Care Nursery.

Dr. Okotcha joins Conemaugh after completing her fellowship training in Neonatal-Prenatal Medicine at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, RI. Before her fellowship training, she completed her residency in Pediatrics at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, TX.

Dr. Okotcha attended King's College University of London, Great Britain, where she earned her bachelor's degree in biomedical and health sciences. She then earned her medical degree at the University of Ghana Medical and Dental School in Accra, Ghana.

She earned numerous accolades and awards for her research conducted during her medical residency, including first place for her studies on delayed cord clamping, congenital radioulnar synostosis, thrombocytopenia, and more.

Dr. Okotcha is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Global Health, Women in Neonatology, and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Dr. Okotcha specializes in extreme prematurity, respiratory distress, persistent pulmonary hypertension of newborns, congenital heart disease, anomalies, genetic syndromes, and metabolic disorders in newborns. She also specializes in feeding problems, perinatal and neonatal infections, infants of diabetic mothers, and more.

She will see patients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
