ComEd Schedules Tree and Vegetation Projects

Trees and other vegetation cause about 21% of all electric service interruptions. Preventive pruning around aerial power lines is important so residents can receive reliable electric service.

ComEd will perform the following work in Warrenville from July through September:

1. Vegetation management (transmission herbicide treatment within the right of way). These are selective spot treatments targeting woody vegetation that has the potential to get tall enough to interfere with ComEd's ability to provide consistent and reliable electricity.

2. Electric line tree pruning. Vegetation management crews are trained in proper arboricultural pruning techniques and take into account the species, growth rate and location of the tree in relation to the overhead wires, as well as the health of the tree, site conditions, and regulatory requirements before beginning any trimming project.

All impacted ComEd customers will receive a separate notification in the form of a doorcard or postcard with more detailed information for their specific site.
