Red Flag Warning in Effect
Monday 7/1 and Tuesday 7/2

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11:00 pm Monday, July 1 to 11:00 pm Tuesday, July 2 due to low humidity and strong winds. This means critical fire weather conditions that could cause wildfires to spread rapidly. A simple spark could cause a major wildfire. Report smoke immediately by calling 9-1-1 and exercise extreme caution.

Safety Tips:

  • Avoid using barbecues, fire pits, or any open flame outdoors.
  • Avoid using power tools or mowers.
  • Properly discard cigarettes.
  • Keep vehicles off dry grass or vegetation.
  • Be alert in public lands and avoid closed areas.
  • Sign up for local emergency alerts at AlertMarin.org.

During this period, we are facing extreme heat risks with temperatures reaching the upper 90s with little alleviation overnight and staying through the week.

During heat waves, the elderly, young children, and people with pre-existing health conditions are at higher risk. If you're 65 or older, ask a friend to check on you twice a day. Check on others in this age group as well. Everyone is encouraged to limit sun exposure from 10 am to 4 pm and stay hydrated.
